COHP Client Testimonials

I entered this class in 1968. It was then called AFP (Adult Fitness Program) under the supervision of Dr. Fred Kasch. I have tried to go three times per week ever since (37 years). I went on an 18 day tour of China this fall (2005). I climbed over two hundred steep steps which was more than most of the 30 people in our group were able to do, and I felt fine. Without being in this program, I feel sure I would not have ever been able to make the trip, especially since I am 88 years old.

My membership in the Adult Fitness Program began in 1989, and I am still a regular attendee in the new COHP. The very capable staff's guidance, support, and encouragement, have helped us learn important techniques and principles. Because of my enhanced health, I have been able to continue, at the age of 79, to go camping and hiking with a group once a month in nearby mountains or desert for three days and two nights. And I still compete in the one-mile ocean swim each September in the La Jolla Rough Water Swim. If you are searching for the Fountain of Youth, you will find it in a comprehensive and consistent exercise program.

I have really enjoyed being in your nutritional and exercise and personal training programs. The experience has taught me a healthier lifestyle through good nutritional eating habits combined with exercise and weight training. After being in your programs for 3 months I was able to lower my total cholesterol from 230 to 145! To me this was definite proof that your programs rally work and I couldn't be happier! Thanks to your friendly and professional consultants I now have the knowledge to live my best life!

Student/Academic Testimonials

I just wanted to let you know that I went to COHP today and I participated in the activities and got to know some of the clients. The program is really neat for the clients and I was amazed to learn that some of them have been attending the program for over 30 years. Something that really hit home for me was when I met Don. My grandfather that recently passed away was also named Don, yet he led a sedentary lifestyle. It amazed me to see how superior Don's health was at age 88 (at COHP), in comparison to my grandfather's at age 82. My grandfather had CV disease, CHF, emphysema, 3 total hip surgeries, and probably other complications that I was not aware of. Tonight's class made me wonder how different his life would have been if only he had participated in a program similar to COHP. Tonight's session reiterated all the things we have been talking about in class regarding the importance of adult fitness, and I was able to see how dedicated/motivated the clients are and how important COHP is in their lives. It was a great experience.
